Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-08 · Effective date: 2026-09-08
Nexcom Media ("we", "us", "our") operates nexcommedia.org and nexcom.media (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you visit our Service, and the rights and choices available to you with respect to your information.
By using our Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Newsletter signup: Email address and (optional) ZIP code
- Email and other inquiries: Your email address, message content, and any information you voluntarily include
- Sponsor / advertising inquiries: Name, email, company, message
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Service and security data: Cloudflare may process IP addresses, browser information, request paths, and timestamps to deliver and protect the Service.
- First-party request analytics: We record requested pages, referring domains, approximate country, and aggregate request counts. These counts can include automated traffic and do not establish a count of people.
- Network session data: Participating publications can send a session identifier and page information to our central analytics service. The redesigned corporate pages do not set an advertising identifier.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
Our hosting and security providers process information needed to deliver the Service. The corporate site does not offer social login or load behavioral advertising services.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes (and on the legal bases identified below for EEA/UK readers):
- Provide and maintain the Service (legal basis: contract / legitimate interests)
- Save requests for future email updates; newsletter delivery is currently paused (legal basis: consent)
- Understand aggregate service use and performance (legal basis: legitimate interests)
- Communicate with you about your inquiries, the Service, or material changes (legal basis: legitimate interests / contract)
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security issues (legal basis: legitimate interests / legal obligation)
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service (legal basis: legal obligation / legitimate interests)
3. Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies
The corporate site does not load advertising cookies or behavioral advertising pixels. Cloudflare may use security mechanisms needed to protect and deliver the Service. Other publications in the network may use session identifiers for first-party operational analytics and publish their own privacy notices.
You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Blocking security functionality may affect access to the Service.
4. Advertising and Third-Party Ad Partners
Display advertising is currently disabled. The corporate site does not load AdSense, Mediavine, Raptive, Ezoic, or other behavioral advertising networks. We do not use corporate-site visits to build cross-site advertising profiles.
If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide any notice or consent choices required by applicable law. Your privacy rights and contact options below remain available while advertising is disabled.
5. Other Third-Party Services
Cloudflare
This Service is delivered via Cloudflare's content delivery network and DNS. Cloudflare may collect log data including IP addresses for security, performance, and abuse-prevention purposes. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Newsletter Provider
Our newsletter intake stores an email address and optional ZIP code through our private service running on Cloudflare. Newsletter delivery is currently paused. Saving a request does not mean that emails are being sent. The existing newsletter.nexcom.media service and unsubscribe identity remain in use.
AI Crawler Licensing Partners
Paid AI crawler access is currently disabled on the corporate site. Ordinary hosting and security processing still applies to automated requests.
6. Sale and Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information or share corporate-site visitor information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Your opt-out and other privacy rights remain available through the options below.
Your California (and similar-jurisdiction) opt-out rights:
- Use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link below.
- Enable the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser; we honor it as a valid opt-out request.
- Email editor@nexcom.media with subject "Do Not Sell Request."
7. Your Rights (GDPR / CPRA / Other Laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction / rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion / erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
- Restriction: Request that we limit how we process your data
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly-used, machine-readable format
- Objection: Object to certain processing (including direct marketing)
- Withdrawal of consent: Where processing relies on consent, withdraw it at any time
- Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise these rights, email editor@nexcom.media. We respond within 30 days (or 45 days for CCPA requests, with notice if we need more time).
8. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Our Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at editor@nexcom.media and we will delete it.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, secure cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare), and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Data Retention
- Newsletter subscribers: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- Contact form messages and inquiries: 12 months after last contact
- Daily first-party request summaries: Stored with a 90-day expiry; infrastructure logs follow the applicable provider retention settings
- Network session records: Active-session keys expire after five minutes; any necessary security cookies follow the duration configured by the provider
- Aggregated / anonymized analytics: Retained indefinitely
11. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced via prominent notice on the Service and (where appropriate) email to subscribers.
